Creality Ender 3-S1 Review: Best 3D Printer Under $500

    Apr 12, 2022 10:15:46

3D printing has never been more accessible or diverse for the home user as it is today. For as little as $200, you can pick up a highly capable and compact machine that’ll easily render your ideas to physical life in high quality.

Likewise, desktop gamers have it made with budget resin 3D printers outputting insanely detailed miniatures with ease. Makers pushed for space can tackle 3D printing, CNC, and laser engraving with just a single machine, and those in need of a big 3D printer–we mean really big–are well covered too. Not to mention the complex and creative possibilities of multi-material, multi-color 3D printing.

Uncountable avenues exist in 3D printing, and All3DP has tested a lot of machines to bring your our view on the best 3D printers you can buy right now.

Take the new Ender 3 S1, for example.

    BEST 3D PRINTER UNDER $500-Ender-3 S1

    WHAT’S GREAT

    • Exceptional print quality
    • Advanced calibration and print monitoring
    • Excellent support and involved community

Creality’s Ender-3 S1 introduces a lot of first for the series. Besides a dual motor-driven Z-axis, it adds auto-bed leveling, a removable spring-steel print bed, and, perhaps most notable of all, a custom, compact direct extruder.

Just a list of bits of a printer – but the crucial point is that the sum of all these parts is an effortless and premium-feeling 3D printer that puts of quality prints and is just plain nice to live with doing so.

Filament loading is a doddle compared to its cheaper stablemates thanks to the direct extruder (no iffy Bowden tubing to worry about), and in the extruder itself, you have a powerful dual-geared assembly that pinches the filament from two sides, and powerfully so, thanks to reduction gearing that lets Creality get away with a lightweight stepper motor, cutting mass and improving the S1’s ability to print well.

    It’s a step-change from the company’s previous Ender 3 models.
