Carmen Chan shows a model printed by Creality K2 Plus
For Carmen Chan, a Product Design&Marketing exchange student in Hong Kong, 3D printing isn’t just a hobby—it’s the bridge between her creative ideas and real-world success. Carmen not only excels in her academic exploration, but also opens the door to personal art expression through 3D printing.
From A Beginner to Engineering Competition Winner
Carmen’s 3D printing story began with a simple goal: make her academic projects stand out in a quick and easy way. Tired of relying on 2D sketches to explain her designs, she turned to online maker communities to explore more ways of presenting design ideas, and learned about 3D printing—a technology that allows her digital prototypes to become tangible objects.
After a few failed prints, Carmen got more familiar with how to use 3D printers, and was also fascinated by how they could bring even her wildest ideas to life. To quickly test and develop prototypes, like a BatCat Mobile, she tried Creality Hi combo and Ender-3 V3, which support fast printing and multicolor making. For completing larger and more complex projects, she chose K2 Plus and K1 Max to enable big build volume and stable print quality. With these two machines, she succeeded in 3D printing a human size King Kong robot and a Godzilla humidifier, and testing functional parts of lighting and sprayer built in models.

One of her signature projects was making a lightweight, functional drone frame through 3D printing. It was designed for aerial stability and modular upgrades that not only showcased her technical abilities, but also earned her an award in a campus engineering competition.

Apart from hardware, Carmen also applied software of Creality Print for slicing models and preparing files to print. In the process, she built a complete workflow from model design, slicing to printing and iterating. She notes, “…a workflow that’s so efficient, I can iterate on a design three times in a day.” The system helped her decrease a big amount of printing time and meet her deadlines in a tight coursework schedule.
3D Printing: A Boost to Personal Creative Visulization
Xonamorph made with high-resolution resin 3D printer
3D printing encouraged Carmen to push her limits not only in academic researches but also in artistic idea expression. She made lots of stunning artworks—Xonamorph from the same movie, Wukong sculpture from the game Blackmyth: Wukong, a Porsche model formed by scanning and printing, a huge Lego box for decorating her printers, etc. She shared her beautiful finished work and the process of printing on social media, and followers attracted to her creativity grew to 125K.

This way, she intrigued and inspired other student designers to join the same club, expressing themselves and resonating with the real world by connecting design and technology.

Creality isn’t Just A Tool—It’s A Mindset
“Creality strikes the perfect balance between user-friendliness and performance.” Carmen reflects. To her, 3D printing is more than technology—it’s a way of thinking. “It’s not just a tool—it’s a mindset that turns constraints into creative fuel.” She sees 3D printing as foundational to her future in tech-driven design.
For student designers looking to make their mark, Carmen’s story is clear: with the help of efficient and stable 3D printers, your ideas don’t have to stay on the screen—they can become the work that defines you.
